IAG AIR / OIL SEPARATOR (AOS) FOR 2008-14 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX & 2008-21 STI
SAFEGUARD YOUR SUBARU
The IAG Performance V3 Street Series Air/Oil Separator (AOS) is a valuable investment to protect and maintain peak performance in your Subaru. Developed through years of meticulous testing on standard and competitive applications, the design of the Street Series AOS offers unparalleled protection for your engine. This AOS features a 1-liter swirl pot canister made of cast aluminum. This construction significantly enhances the separation of oil from the PCV system before the PCV gasses are directed back to the intake system. The Street Series AOS features an aluminum housing that has superior ventilation and it incorporates an exclusive baffle design that sets it apart from the competition. It works with all fuel types, prolongs engine lifespan, optimizes crankcase ventilation, and seamlessly integrates with standard ECU settings.
KEEPS OIL OUT OF THE INTAKE
The presence of oil within the engine's intake tract brings about a range of adverse effects, so preventing oil from entering the engine intake is crucial for avoiding premature mechanical issues and maintaining optimal performance. Initially, it coats the internal components of the intake, intercooler, and piping, which can potentially harm or prematurely deteriorate rubber or silicone hoses, eventually leading to compromised connections. Once the oil enters the intake tract, it has access to the intake manifold and then the engine’s combustion chamber. Oil inside the chamber has the potential to trigger detonation, pre-ignition, excessive emissions, smoke generation, power loss, reduced fuel efficiency, and in extreme cases, severe engine damage or even complete engine failure.
NO MAINTENANCE NEEDED
The IAG AOS is designed for effortless upkeep. Unlike typical catch-can systems, our Air Oil Separators operate without the need for routine draining and maintenance. Separated oil gathers on AOS can walls and slowly drains into the engine's crankcase. With the help of our unique heating system, the collected oil remains free of sludge, ensuring that there is no risk of reintroducing it into the engine. The substantial size of the AOS body allows for a safe and gradual oil drainage process, effectively removing the chance of overflow commonly observed in smaller catch cans
HOW DOES THE AOS OPERATE? WHAT’S INSIDE?
The IAG Air Oil Separator features a unique baffle system that captures the oil suspended in your engine's PCV gasses, which are then able to drain back into the crankcase. The AOS body's inlet hoses are set up to create an internal gas vortex, which is then filtered through a series of baffles. The baffles gather the oil while enabling the gasses to exit from the upper part of the AOS canister. As the factory PCV remains active, this allows the engine to generate a vacuum in the AOS assembly to draw out even more of the PVC gasses.
IMPROVES UPON THE OEM PCV SYSTEM
The Street Series AOS works with the OEM PCV system, while also providing a boost to its capacity. The Street Series AOS directs PCV gasses to the turbo inlet, using the factory PCV valve for additional suction and air-oil separation. For applications using ethanol fuel, the Street Series AOS provides protection against problems like oil dilution and lubrication issues. This is accomplished by capturing fuel vapors emitted from the oil and then reintroducing them into the intake tract for combustion. The Street Series AOS provides exceptional protection against oil entering the intake flow and oil dilution in the engine's lubrication system, exceeding the capabilities of the OEM PCV system alone.
MINIMIZES CONDENSATION BUILDUP
The IAG Street Series Air Oil Separator uses a unique heating system to solve problems found in lesser catch cans. In inferior models, hot PCV gasses pass through a cold pathway, which causes condensation that mixes with the oil and causes sludge. IAG’s upgraded design attaches to the vehicle’s cooling system, allowing heat from the engine to transfer into the AOS canister. By warming the AOS canister to the engine's temperature, condensation and related buildup are greatly reduced or eliminated.
Our engineers set out to make the system as easy to install as possible for the 2008-14 Subaru Impreza WRX & 2008-21 STI. The connection hoses are measured out and arrive pre-cut to the exact length to reach the corresponding engine parts. The AOS is available in your choice of black, red or neon yellow to accent the engine bay of your Subaru.

Q: Why do I need an AOS?
A: In stock configuration, the un-baffled crankcase pressure is re-circulated back into the intake stream.
This can be harmful for two reasons:
1. Oil vapor mixed with the intake air effectively lowers the overall octane rating of your fuel. The more oil vapor that is sucked back into the engine, the more likely you are to experience engine knock (also referred to as detonation) that can destroy an engine.2. Oil vapors cause oil & carbon build up over time. The intercooler, intake manifold & intake valves suffer the worst. This oil vapor can create air turbulence that leads to various running issues.
Q: What are the factors that cause oil in the crankcase vent system (CCVS)?
A: There are a variety of factors that determine how much oil will be in the CCVS. The most significant of these factors are boost pressure, piston to cylinder wall clearance and oil viscosity. Smaller factors include ambient temperature, engine temperature, piston ring condition, and valve guide condition.
Q: What's the difference between a catch can & the IAG AOS?
A: Catch cans are an air/oil separator that does not actively drain the collected oil back into the engine lubrication system. Most catch cans require you to drain the contents out manually. By nature, a turbocharged boxer engine will produce significantly more oil in the CCVS than other engines of similar displacement.
Q: Which AOS is right for my vehicle?
A: The Street Series AOS maintains or improves the functionality of the original PCV system and may be installed on street driven vehicles subject to EPA emissions standards. The Street Series AOS provides optimal oil separation and venting performance for vehicles, including unregulated competition applications, up to 600 WHP and those fueled by E85 or other high-ethanol fuel blends. The Street Series AOS protects from ethanol caused oil dilution and resulting extremely frequent oil change requirements. Pulling vacuum via the Street Series recirculating design to the inlet is ideal for ethanol fueled competition vehicles, removing ethanol vapors from the crankcase and returning them to the intake system for complete combustion. Please note that the IAG AOS is not compatible with most aftermarket strut tower bars.
Competition Series AOS are “Competition Only” components for installation exclusively on “Competition” vehicles or “Racing” vehicles not subject to pollution control. IAG recommends the Competition Series AOS for Competition vehicles with greater than 600 WHP output. The Competition Series AOS prevents any oil suspended in the PCV gases from re-entering the turbo inlet but requires calibration or tune changes. Select a Street Series AOS if you prefer not to retune your Competition vehicle for this upgrade. For Competition vehicles, follow your engine builder’s maintenance directions, but perform oil changes before every race or practice event .
IAG is not offering any Competition only components for installation on street driven or regulated applications. Installing a Competition Series AOS on a vehicle other than a Competition vehicle used solely for competition motorsport may be violation of the federal prohibitions against “Tampering” provided in CAA§ 203(a)(3)(A), 42 U.S.C. § 7522(a)(3)(A), 40 C.F. R. § 1068.101(b)(I) and “Defeat Devices” in CAA§ 203(a)(3)(B), 42 U.S.C. § 7522(a)(3)(B), 40 C.F.R. § 1068.101(b)(2).
* The IAG AOS is not compatible with most aftermarket strut tower bars.

Its perfectly made for any boxer engine
A must have to help with longevity of the EJ. Install was straight forward following the IAG instructional video on YouTube. Some mechanical knowledge makes install fairly simple. One suggestion which I’m pretty sure other people have made the mistake, measure twice, cut once!! I cut the coolant hose going to the turbo 1/2” a little short and I had to finagle it and use a worm clamp to keep coolant from leaking.
The craftsmanship of this product is amazing. Some serious time and revisions were put into this thing! I'm sure it was hard making a bulky catch can with a massive amount of hoses look good but IAG some how did it. Fast shipping as well, ordered Wednesday received Friday!
